The New Year’s resolutions

25th January 2016 Posted by

For most of us January is the time of making resolutions, as we enter the new year and are getting ready for all its challenges and opportunities. Maybe we will trot out the old favourites … joining a gym, giving up smoking or perhaps drinking less, but we all know that many of these resolutions fall by the wayside by the end of February! Here we are nearly a month in the new year, so what’s up with your resolutions? Are you still going strong?

For those of you who have been reading my blogs to date, you will know that following our ‘U Say’ employee engagement survey in the autumn of last year, we are now managing the feedback through the business. I have communicated to all our managers that they should ensure the actions they have promised to follow up are followed through and are not forgotten just like all those other new year’s resolutions.

I am a firm believer in the saying that it is worse to promise something and then not deliver that promise, rather than not having done something in the first place.

For busy line managers at SUEZ Recycling and Recovery UK, 2016 will present even more business challenges as the market place remains as competitive as ever, but the senior managers’ commitment to engagement is undiminished as a critical factor in a success of our company.

Employee engagement is not a project…it is a culture, a journey….and following the results of the ‘U Say’ survey, I am happy to say the vast majority of our managers are coming with us on that journey.

Have your say
